How to Wash Your Face
Washing my face has been an every-day part of my life since, well, forever. When I wake up and when I go to bed, my face gets a thorough cleansing. After reading Marie Claire’s article “This Is How You Should *Really* Be Washing Your Face”, I realized it was time to make a few changes to my routine.
Start with a Cleansing Oil
I have to admit, there are nights when even after I wash my face, I know I still have a little eye makeup or powder left over. Marie Claire explains that simply washing your face will not remove all of your makeup. Start by using a cleansing oil to remove makeup and excess lotion before you wash your face. I suggest HollyBeth Organics’ Cleansing Oil. This purifying blend of camellia and avocado oil combined with lavender and anti-oxidants lifts away excess dirt while soothing the skin.
You May Not Need to Wash Twice Daily
I’ve always been a wash twice daily kind of gal. Marie Claire suggests the number of times you wash your face should be based on your skin type. If you have dry skin, stick to once a day. Prone to oily skin? Morning and night may still be the way to go. Either way, pay attention to what your skin needs. Over-cleansing can strip your skin of moisture.
Oily Skin? Go for a Foaming Wash
I tend to have oily skin – which will help combat wrinkles in the future! But for now, it just makes me feel greasy. Marie Claire recommends using a foaming cleanser, for it leaves the skin feeling thoroughly cleansed without any left-over residue. HollyBeth Organics has an amazing Marigold Foaming Facial Cleanser that deep cleans and balances the skin while combating oil.
Change can be good – especially if it means balanced, radiant skin. Thanks for the great tips Marie Claire!
