As I was researching the history of Labor Day I just found out that Labor Day 1955 was the opening of the first Waffle House in Avondale Estates – 1 mile from my house! There is even a museum there now. So maybe in honor of Labor Day and Waffle House I should stop by there for breakfast? … on my way to work with my friend Alicia who I want to college with who moved to Europe (and never moved back) but is visiting home this month.
Who hasn’t been in a waffle house? I remember the first one that came to Habersham County growing up; it was a treat to go there for breakfast. What I loved about Waffle House is the friendliness of the employees. It is the cheers of breakfast, my favorite meal. So Happy Birthday Waffle House!
