If you look closely on the left hand side a Carolina Wren is going into her nest to feed her brood. The gorilla painting is propped up on a window that is in my basement – I shouldn’t even admit this as the artist must think it horrific that the gorilla painted in Africa has been outside for years. For the past two years the wrens have nested behind the painting and as I sit and write this the mother and father take all sorts of goodies to feed the babies zooming by me within inches of my nose.
You have to tread carefully in my backyard as I have already found about 15 nests, cardinals, wrens, nut hatch, titmouse, brown thrasher our state bird etc etc even a bat house. And did you know bats can eat up to 1000 mosquitoes an hour? This is my bat house – it is about 20 feet from the ground.
