roseroseMy roses are flourishing in my backyard as I have showered the roots this year with my used coffee grains. This one is bush that started from a cutting from my Great Grandmother’s rose.

Grown all over the world, roses are native to the United States with the oldest known fossilized rose was found in Colorado and estimated to be over 35 million years old. With over 100 different species, the Cherokee rose is Georgia’s state flower.

Did you know it takes 30,000 rose petals to make one ounce of rose oil and is the most widely used oil in perfumery? Thus it tends to be quite expensive. The fruit of the rose produces rosehip seed oil, rich in fatty acids and vitamin A and C it is a powerhouse of anti-aging benefits and can be found in my rose geranium face moisturizer and face and neck elixir.
