daylily

With over 60,000 cultivars the daylily, lasting only a day, is actually not a lily. Imported to the US in the 1600s it is native to Asia. The roots and flowers are edible and used frequently in dishes in China. They are also known to cure insomnia and  to detox the body. Unfortunately, they do not attract bees and as I am determined to help the bees they are not on the top of my list and I completely forgot I had planted this one.
