Biscuit Month – Thank you Alicia!

September is national biscuit month … Most Southerners not only have a
mother who can bake a good biscuit, but also have an aunt or two and a
grandmother who have a legendary biscuit the family talks about. If really
lucky, this aunt or grandmother has shared a favorite recipe and may even
have taught a niece or nephew, grandson or granddaughter the secrets to a
light and fluffy traditional Southern staple. Nowadays as we all try to
watch the calories and our waistline; there is nothing better to spend a few
calories on than a warm fluffy biscuit straight from the oven, spread with
real butter and some good homemade jelly or jam or organic honey. Add a
well-made cup of tea, some nice simple china and a back porch for a
comforting weekend starter.
