Rudbeckia Black Eyed Susan

Rudbeckia or  Black Eyed Susan, native to the eastern US, are resilient flowers known as a pioneer plant, the first of any flower to grow in areas destroyed by fire. The seeds of some the 90 different varieties are poisonous. Along with sunflowers, it is a host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot butterfly caterpillar. It is extremely  hot here but my black eyed susans are flourishing.
