spicy carnations

The largest consumer of carnations is Russia and with over 300 species available their choices are varied. However, they are all imported from South America. Years ago living in Spain I was introduced to small carnations that smelled like cinnamon and cloves that now bloom in my backyard in the summer.  This is a small but bountiful bloom from last year’s photos.
